Florida, Oddly Enough
Visiting family and friends in beautiful places….hearing stories about long ago. This week I've felt my connections to my family in a new way, peaceful and open. Appreciating the weave of our shared experiences and ways of knowing, our humor and our talents. Finding beauty everywhere. In old dog eyes, and in dusky green twilight rides with my aunt in her atv as we tore through the woods around her house, checking on things before settling in for the evening. Of course she'd drive so quickly and competently; it was a blast. Up in the hot dusty attic of grandma’s house. Cornflower blue and copper colored eyes. All of them saying, glad you're here. We love you. A cold glass of Muscadine grape juice, oh my gosh, so refreshing. The best of hugs. A gift of a blue nightgown, a pretty comb. Buttermilk pie. Strong black coffee and poodle feet.
What a great chapter in my summertime.
